Public Holidays

Visa processing timelines may vary as per public holidays observed in both India and your intended destination country.

  • Passport

    • Must be original and issued within the last 10 years.

    • Valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended departure date from Norway.

    • Should have at least 2 blank visa pages.

    • Must not contain alterations or handwritten amendments on data pages.


    Photograph

    • Three recent passport-sized colored photographs (35mm x 45mm) taken within the last 3 months.

    • The facial image should measure between 25mm and 35mm from chin to crown.

    • Must be taken against a plain white background with a matt or semi-matt finish.

    • Scanned or unclear photographs will not be accepted.


    Accommodation Proof

    Applicants must provide one of the following:

    • Confirmed hotel booking.

    • Cruise confirmation voucher.

    • If staying with friends or relatives, an invitation letter, along with:
      Invitee’s ID proof (passport or residence card copy).
      Their financial documents (scanned colored copies via email are acceptable).


    Flight Ticket

    • Confirmed flight reservation (India to Norway and return).


    Itinerary

    • A day-wise travel itinerary on plain A4 paper or a travel agent’s letterhead if booked through an agent.


    Travel Insurance

    • Mandatory with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros (or 50,000 USD per person).

    • Must cover all medical expenses, including:
      Repatriation for medical reasons.
      Urgent medical attention.
      Emergency medical treatment in a hospital.

    • Should cover the entire Schengen stay.

    • For 6-month or 1-year multiple-entry visas, coverage for only the first journey is sufficient.


    Proof of Sufficient Funds

    • Last 6 months’ bank statement, signed and attested by a bank official (for employed applicants).

    • If sponsored, the sponsor’s bank statement must be provided.

    • All statements must be dated within the last week.


    Income Tax Return (ITR)

    • Last 3 years’ ITR assessment (for employed applicants).

    • If sponsored, the sponsor’s ITR must be submitted.


    Cover Letter

    • A cover letter from the applicant on:
      A4-size paper (if employed).
      Business letterhead (if self-employed).


    Employment Letter

    • On official company letterhead, stamped and dated.

    • Must include:
      Company’s contact details (address, email, phone number).
      Countersigning officer’s name, position, and signature.
      Applicant’s position, salary, duration of employment, and approved leave details.


    NOC (No Objection Certificate)

    • For students/minors: NOC from school/institute + copy of student ID card.


    GST Copy

    • Required for self-employed applicants.


    Leave Letter

    • From employer, along with a copy of employment ID card (for employed applicants).


    Biometric Requirement

    • Indian citizens applying for a Schengen visa for the first time must provide biometric data in person.

    • Children under 12 years old are exempt.

    • If biometric data was submitted after November 2, 2015, it remains valid for 59 months for Schengen travel.

    • Some Schengen countries may request a fresh biometric submission if required.

    • Shiva YSR will assist in booking biometric data submission appointments at the designated visa application center.

    • Norway is one of the 27 Schengen countries.


    • Schengen Area comprises of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic,Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland


    • If multiple countries in a Schengen area is to be visited then Norway must be the country with the maximum duration of stay or if all the stays at the Schengen countries are same, then it must be the first country at the port of entry in the Schengen area


    • Each applicant must have all the mandatory documents as mentioned in requirement tabs above


    • In addition to the documents mentioned, our visa experts or the concerned embassy may require you to furnish additional documents to process your visa.Your cooperation in furnishing any such additional documents is essential for a positive outcome

  • Which countries are included in the Schengen visa?

    A Schengen Visa, issued by a consulate or embassy of any Schengen member state, is valid for travel across 27 Schengen countries, including:

    Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.


    Can I submit an e-statement for my visa application?

    No, you must provide a bank statement for the last 6 months, stamped and signed on every page by the bank. The statement must be printed on A4 size paper.


    Do I need confirmed flight and accommodation bookings for my Schengen visa application?

    No, confirmed bookings are not mandatory before obtaining a visa. However, Shiva YSR (India’s first e-visa agency) can assist you with temporary hold bookings for your application.


    How long is biometric data valid for Schengen visas?

    Biometric data is valid for 59 months across all Schengen countries. You can identify the VIS (Visa Information System) remark on your visa after submitting biometrics for the first time. However, some countries may require biometrics for every new application. It is recommended to check with our e-visa team before applying.


    When should I apply for my Norway visa?

    You can apply for a Norway visa up to 6 months before travel but no later than 15 days before your departure.


    Can I apply for a Schengen visa with only two years’ ITR?

    Although three years of Income Tax Returns (ITR) are preferred, you may submit ITRs for the last two years if required.


    Can I travel to Norway with a valid Schengen visa on my old passport?

    If you have an active Schengen visa on your old passport, you must email the Norway Embassy for guidance. If the embassy confirms its validity, you can travel using both passports until the visa expires.


    Do I need to submit my visa application in person?

    Since November 2, 2015, all applicants must provide biometric data (fingerprints, palm print, live photo, etc.) in person at an assigned Visa Facilitation Center (VFC), consulate, or embassy, depending on the country’s requirements.


    Is travel insurance mandatory for a Schengen visa?

    Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for all 27 Schengen countries. You can conveniently apply for travel insurance online.
