Public Holidays

Visa processing timelines may vary as per public holidays observed in both India and your intended destination country.

  • Passport

    • Must be original and issued within the last 10 years.

    • Should remain valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended departure date from the Netherlands.

    • Must have at least two blank visa pages.

    • No alterations or handwritten amendments should be present on data pages.


    Photographs

    • Three recent (taken within the last 3 months) colored passport-size photos (35mm x 45mm, no border).

    • The facial image should be 25mm to 35mm from chin to crown.

    • Must be taken against a plain white background with a matte or semi-matte finish.

    • Scanned or unclear photographs will not be accepted.


    Accommodation Proof

    Applicants must submit one of the following:

    • Confirmed hotel voucher.

    • Cruise confirmation voucher.

    • If staying with friends or relatives, an invitation letter along with:
      Invitee’s ID proof, passport, or residence card copy.
      Their financial documents (email with color scan copies is acceptable).


    Flight Ticket

    • Confirmed round-trip flight reservation (India to Netherlands and return).


    Itinerary

    • A day-wise itinerary outlining travel plans.

    • Should be printed on plain A4-size paper or on the travel agent’s letterhead (if booked through an agent).


    Travel Insurance

    • Mandatory with minimum coverage of €30,000 or $50,000 USD per person.

    • Should cover:
      Repatriation for medical reasons.
      Urgent medical attention.
      Emergency hospital treatment.

    • Must be valid for the entire stay in Schengen territory.

    • Applicants for 6-month or 1-year multiple-entry visas need coverage only for their first journey.


    Proof of Sufficient Funds

    • Last 6 months' bank statement, signed and attested by a bank official (if employed).

    • If a sponsor is covering expenses, their bank statement must be provided.

    • All bank statements must be dated within the last week.


    Income Tax Returns (ITR)

    • Last 3 years' ITR (if employed).

    • If a sponsor is covering expenses, their ITR must be provided.


    Cover Letter

    • Employed applicants: A cover letter on A4-size paper.

    • Self-employed applicants: A cover letter on business letterhead.


    Employment Letter

    • Issued on official company letterhead, stamped, and dated.

    • Must include:
      Company’s contact details (address, email, phone number).
      Name, position, and signature of the countersigning officer.
      Applicant’s position, salary, employment duration, and approval of leave.


    No Objection Certificate (NOC)

    • Required for students/minors from their school/institute.

    • Must include a copy of the student ID card.


    GST Certificate (For Self-Employed Applicants)

    • Self-employed applicants must submit a copy of their GST certificate.


    Leave Letter

    • Employed applicants must submit a leave letter from their company.

    • Must include a copy of the employment ID card.


    Biometric Data Submission

    • First-time Schengen visa applicants must appear in person for biometric data submission.

    • Children under 12 years are exempt from biometric submission.

    • Shiva YSR will schedule an appointment at the Visa Application Center for biometric submission.

    • Previously submitted biometric data (after November 2, 2015) is valid for 59 months for any Schengen country.

    • Some Schengen countries may request resubmission of biometric data if necessary.

  • Netherlands Schengen Visa Information

    • The Netherlands is one of the 26 Schengen countries.

    • The Schengen Area includes:
      Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.


    Visa Requirements for Indian Passport Holders

    • All Indian passport holders require a valid visa to enter the Netherlands.

    • If visiting multiple Schengen countries, the Netherlands must be:
      The country where you will spend the maximum duration of stay, or
      If the stay duration in each Schengen country is equal, then the Netherlands must be the first port of entry.

    • Each applicant must provide all mandatory documents as listed in the requirements section.

    • The embassy or visa experts may request additional documents during processing. Your cooperation is essential for a successful visa application.

    • Visa fees are non-refundable, regardless of approval or rejection.

    • Fees may vary due to fluctuations in the Euro exchange rate.

    • Processing times are indicative and may change based on various factors.

  • 1. Is travel insurance mandatory for a Schengen visa?

    • Yes, travel insurance is mandatory. It must provide a minimum coverage of €30,000 (or $50,000 USD) for medical emergencies, repatriation, and hospital treatments during your stay in the Schengen area.


    2. Which countries are included in the Schengen visa?

    • The Schengen visa allows entry into 26 countries, including:
      Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.


    3. Can I submit an e-statement for my visa application?

    • No, e-statements are not accepted. You must provide a bank statement from the last six months, signed and stamped by a bank official.


    4. Do I need to provide a confirmed flight itinerary and accommodation bookings for my Schengen visa application?

    • Yes, you must submit:
      A confirmed round-trip flight itinerary.
      Proof of accommodation bookings (hotel reservations or an invitation letter if staying with friends/family).


    5. For how long is the biometric data valid?

    • Biometric data submitted for a Schengen visa is valid for 59 months (almost 5 years). However, in some cases, embassies may request resubmission.


    6. How early should I apply for a Netherlands visa from India?

    • You can apply up to 6 months before your travel date, but it is recommended to apply at least 4-6 weeks in advance to account for processing time.


    7. I only have the last two years' Income Tax Returns (ITR). Can I apply for a Schengen visa?

    • Most Schengen embassies require three years of ITR. However, if you only have two years, you can still apply, but your application may be subject to additional scrutiny.


    8. If I have a valid Schengen visa on my old passport, can I travel to the Netherlands with both my old and new passports?

    • Yes, you can travel with both your old passport (with the valid visa) and your new passport, as long as the visa is still valid.


    9. Is it necessary to submit the visa application in person?

    • Yes, first-time Schengen visa applicants must appear in person for biometric data collection. However, if you have provided biometrics after November 2, 2015, you may not need to appear again.
