Passport
Original passport issued within the last 10 years
Valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended departure date from France
Must have at least 2 blank visa pages
No alterations or handwritten amendments on data pages
Photograph
Three recent passport-sized colored photographs (35mm x 45mm, no border) taken in the last 3 months
The facial image must measure 25mm to 35mm from chin to crown
Taken against a plain white background with a matte or semi-matte finish
Scanned or unclear photographs will not be accepted
Accommodation
Applicants must provide one of the following:
Holding/Confirmed Hotel Voucher
Cruise Confirmation Voucher
Invitation letter (if staying with friends/relatives), along with:
Invitee’s ID proof, passport, or residence card copy
Their financial documents (color scanned copies via email are acceptable)
Flight Ticket
Holding/Confirmed flight reservation (India to destination and return)
Itinerary
A day-wise travel plan on plain A4-size paper or, if booked through a travel agent, on their official letterhead
Travel Insurance
Mandatory with a minimum coverage of €30,000 or $50,000 per person
Must cover:
Medical emergencies, repatriation, urgent medical attention, or hospital treatmentMust be valid for the entire Schengen stay
For 6-month or 1-year multiple-entry visas, insurance covering the first journey is sufficient
Proof of Sufficient Funds
Last 6 months' bank statement, signed and attested by a bank official (for employed applicants)
If sponsored, the sponsor’s bank statement is required
Statements must be dated within the last week
Income Tax Return (ITR)
ITR assessment for the last 3 years (if employed)
If sponsored, the sponsor’s ITR documents are required
Cover Letter
Employed applicants: A covering letter on A4-size paper
Self-employed applicants: A covering letter on official business letterhead
Employment Letter
On official company letterhead, stamped and dated
Must include:
Company contact details (address, email, phone)
Name, position, and signature of the signing officer
Applicant’s name, position, salary, years of employment, and leave approval
No Objection Certificate (NOC)
Students/minors must submit an NOC from their school/institution along with a copy of their student ID card
GST Certificate (For Self-Employed Applicants)
Self-employed applicants must submit a copy of their GST registration
Leave Letter
Employed applicants must submit a leave letter from their company along with a copy of their employment ID card
Biometric Data
First-time Schengen visa applicants must provide biometric data in person
Children under 12 years are exempt from biometric submission
Shiva YSR will arrange a biometric appointment at the designated visa application center
Previously submitted biometric data (after November 2, 2015) is valid for 59 months for Schengen travel
In some cases, re-submission may be required at the discretion of member states
France Schengen Visa Information
France is one of the 27 Schengen countries.
The Schengen Area includes: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Indian passport holders require a valid visa to enter France.
Schengen Visa Rules
If visiting multiple Schengen countries, France should be:
The country where you will spend the longest duration of your stay.
If the duration of stay is the same across all countries, France must be the first port of entry into the Schengen Area.

1. Is it necessary to submit the visa application in person?
Yes, as of November 2, 2015, all applicants must submit their biometric data (fingerprints, palm print, live photo, etc.) in person. This can be done at the designated Visa Facilitation Center (VFC) or, for some countries, at the assigned consulate or embassy.
2. Which countries are included in the Schengen Visa?
A Schengen Visa allows travel across all 27 Schengen countries, which include:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.3. Can I submit an e-statement for my visa application?
No, the bank statement must be printed on A4-sized paper, covering the last 6 months, and stamped and signed on every page by the bank.
4. Do I need confirmed flight and accommodation bookings for my Schengen visa application?
Yes, you must provide flight reservations and accommodation bookings. Indian visa agencies can assist with hold bookings required for the visa application.
5. How long is biometric data valid for?
Schengen biometric data (VIS - Visa Information System) is valid for 59 months and can be used for all Schengen countries. However, some countries may require new biometrics for every application, regardless of validity. It’s recommended to check with the E-Visa Application team before applying.
6. When should I apply for a France visa?
You can apply as early as 6 months before your trip but no later than 15 days before departure.
7. I only have the last two years’ ITR (Income Tax Return). Can I still apply for a Schengen visa?
Although the preferred requirement is ITR for the last three years, providing ITR for the last two years may still be accepted.
8. I have a valid Schengen visa on my old passport. Can I travel to France with both my old and new passports?
If your old passport contains a valid Schengen visa, you must email the France Embassy for confirmation. If approved, you can travel using both passports until the visa expires.
9. Is travel insurance mandatory for a Schengen visa?
Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for all 27 Schengen countries. You can easily apply for it online.
