Public Holidays

Visa processing timelines may vary as per public holidays observed in both India and your intended destination country.

  • Passport

    • Must be original and issued within the last 10 years.

    • Valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended departure date from Denmark.

    • Should have a minimum of 2 blank visa pages.

    • No alterations or handwritten amendments should be present on the data pages.


    Photographs

    • Three recent, colored passport-size photographs (35mm x 45mm) taken within the last 3 months.

    • The facial image should measure between 25mm and 35mm from chin to crown.

    • Must be taken against a plain white background with a matte or semi-matte finish.

    • Scanned or unclear photographs will not be accepted.


    Accommodation Proof

    Applicants must provide one of the following:

    • Holding/confirmed hotel voucher.

    • Cruise confirmation voucher.

    • If staying with friends or relatives, an invitation letter along with the invitee’s ID proof, passport, or residence card copy, and their financial documents (colored scan copies via email are acceptable).


    Flight Tickets

    • Holding/confirmed flight reservation for the entire journey (India to onward destination and return).


    Itinerary

    • A day-wise itinerary detailing travel plans, submitted on plain A4-size paper or, if booked through a travel agent, on their official letterhead.


    Travel Insurance

    • Mandatory coverage of at least 30,000 Euros or 50,000 USD per person.

    • Must cover all expenses, including repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention, and emergency hospitalization.

    • Should be valid for the entire duration of the Schengen stay.

    • Applicants for 6-month or 1-year multiple-entry visas are not required to provide coverage for 180/365 days; insurance for the first journey is sufficient.


    Proof of Sufficient Funds

    • Employed applicants must provide a bank statement for the last 6 months, signed and attested by a bank official.

    • If sponsored, the sponsor’s bank statement must be submitted.

    • All bank statements must be dated within the last 1 week.


    Income Tax Return (ITR)

    • Employed applicants must provide ITR assessments for the last 3 years.

    • If sponsored, the sponsor’s ITR must be submitted.


    Cover Letter

    • A covering letter on A4-size paper for employed applicants.

    • If self-employed, the letter must be on business letterhead.


    Employment Letter

    • Issued on official company letterhead, stamped, and dated.

    • Must include company contact details (address, email, phone number) and the name, position, and signature of the issuing officer.

    • Should mention the applicant’s name, position, salary, years of employment, and approval of leave/confirmation of position upon return.


    No Objection Certificate (NOC)

    • Required for students and minors.

    • Must be issued by the school/institution, along with a copy of the student ID card.


    GST Copy (For Self-Employed Applicants)

    • A copy of the GST registration certificate must be provided.


    Leave Letter

    • If employed, a leave letter from the company along with a copy of the employment ID card must be submitted.


    Biometric Data Requirement

    • First-time Indian Schengen visa applicants must provide biometric data in person.

    • Children under 12 years old are exempt from biometric submission.

    • Shiva YSR will arrange an appointment at the visa application center.

    • Previously submitted biometric data (from November 2, 2015, onwards) remains valid for 59 months for Schengen travel.

    • In some cases, Schengen member countries may request re-submission of biometric data if necessary.

  • Denmark is one of the 27 Schengen countries.

    Visa Application Guidelines

    • If visiting multiple Schengen countries, Denmark must either be:The country where you will spend the most time, or
      The first port of entry if the duration of stay is equal across all Schengen countries.

    • Each applicant must provide all mandatory documents as listed in the requirements section.

    • Additional documents may be requested by visa experts or the embassy as part of the processing. Your cooperation in submitting any such documents is crucial for a successful application.

  • Is travel insurance mandatory for a Schengen visa?

    Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for all 26 Schengen countries. You can apply for travel insurance online instantly.


    Which countries are included in the Schengen visa?

    A Schengen visa, issued by a consulate or embassy of a Schengen member state, is valid for all 26 countries in the Schengen Area:
    Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.


    Can I submit an e-statement for my visa application?

    No. Your bank statement must cover the last six months and be stamped and signed on every page by the bank. It should be printed on A4-size paper.


    Do I need to provide a confirmed flight itinerary and accommodation bookings for my Schengen visa application?

    No, confirmed bookings are not mandatory before obtaining your visa. However, Shiva YSR can assist with the necessary hold reservations for your application.


    How long is biometrics valid for?

    Biometric data (fingerprints and photos) collected for a Schengen visa is valid for 59 months across all Schengen countries. However, some countries may require biometrics with each application, regardless of validity. It is recommended to check with our E-Visa team before applying.


    When should I apply for a Denmark visa online?

    You can apply up to six months before your travel date but no later than 15 days before departure.


    I only have the last two years’ Income Tax Returns (ITR). Can I still apply for a Schengen visa?

    While submitting ITRs for the last three years is preferred, you may still apply with ITRs for the last two years.


    If I have a valid Schengen visa on my old passport, can I travel to Denmark with both my old and new passports?

    If your Schengen visa is valid on your old passport, you must email your concern to the Denmark Embassy. If they validate it, you may travel with both passports until the visa expires.


    Is a personal appearance required for visa submission?

    Yes. Since November 2, 2015, all Schengen visa applicants must appear in person to provide biometric data (fingerprints, palm prints, and a live photo) at a Visa Facilitation Center (VFC) or, in some cases, at the designated consulate or embassy.
