Visa processing timelines may vary as per public holidays observed in both India and your intended destination country.

  • 1. Passport

    • Original passport issued within the last 10 years.

    • Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the final departure date from Austria.

    • Should have at least 2 blank visa pages.

    • No alterations or handwritten amendments on data pages.


    2. Photograph

    • Three recent passport-size color photographs (35mm x 45mm) taken within the last 3 months.

    • Face size should be between 25mm and 35mm (chin to crown).

    • Background: Plain white with a matte or semi-matte finish.

    • Scanned or unclear photographs will not be accepted.


    3. Accommodation Proof

    Applicants must provide one of the following:

    • Confirmed hotel/cruise reservation.

    • If staying with a friend or relative:
      Invitation letter from the host.
      Host’s ID proof (passport or residence permit).
      Host’s financial documents (scanned copies via email are acceptable).


    4. Flight Ticket

    • Confirmed flight reservation for onward and return travel from India.


    5. Travel Itinerary

    • A detailed day-wise travel plan on A4 paper.

    • If booked via a travel agent, the itinerary must be on their official letterhead.


    6. Travel Insurance

    • Mandatory with a minimum coverage of €30,000 (or $50,000 per person).

    • Must cover:
      Emergency medical treatment.
      Hospitalization and urgent medical attention.
      Medical repatriation expenses.

    • The insurance should cover the entire stay in the Schengen area.

    • For 6-month or 1-year multiple-entry visas, coverage for the first journey is sufficient.


    7. Proof of Financial Sufficiency

    • Last 6 months’ bank statement, signed and attested by a bank official (if employed).

    • If sponsored, the sponsor's bank statement must be provided.

    • Statements should be dated within the last week.


    8. Income Tax Returns (ITR)

    • Last 3 years’ ITR assessment (if employed).

    • If sponsored, the sponsor’s ITR documents must be submitted.


    9. Cover Letter

    • A cover letter from the applicant:
      On A4 size paper (if employed).
      On company letterhead (if self-employed).


    10. Employment Letter

    • Must be on official company letterhead, stamped and dated.

    • Should include:
      Contact details (address, email, phone number).
      Name, position, and signature of the employer.
      Applicant’s name, position, salary, duration of employment, and approved leave.


    11. No Objection Certificate (NOC)

    • For students/minors:
      NOC from the school/institution.
      Copy of student ID card.


    12. GST Copy (For Self-Employed Applicants)

    • GST registration copy as proof of business ownership.


    13. Leave Letter (For Employed Applicants)

    • Official leave approval letter from the employer.

    • Copy of the employment ID card.


    14. Biometric Data Requirement

    • First-time Schengen visa applicants must appear in person for biometric data submission.

    • Children under 12 years are exempt from biometrics.

    • If biometric data was submitted after November 2, 2015, it remains valid for 59 months for Schengen travel.

    • In some cases, embassies may request re-submission of biometric data if deemed necessary.

    Are these additional fees mandatory?

    No, these fees are optional. You can opt out of these services if you do not wish to use them.


    Can I cancel my accommodation in Austria after my visa is issued?

    While possible, canceling your accommodation after visa approval may result in visa revocation.


    Can I purchase travel insurance after submitting my visa application?

    Yes, you can buy travel insurance after applying, but it is recommended to purchase it beforehand to avoid delays or complications.


    Do I need a visa for Austria if I have a valid Schengen visa?

    No, a valid Schengen visa allows you to visit Austria without an additional Austrian visa.


    Do I need any special permits to enter Austria with a Schengen visa?
